Flights departures at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) were put on hold as the Civil Aviation Authority resolves a software bug in the systems of the Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC).
“To ensure safety of the flying public, CAAP decided to be conservative and control the operations by providing longer separation of departing flights,” CAAP said on Monday.
AirAsia PH flights on hold
AirAsia Philippines said in a statement on Monday all aircraft departing from Manila were placed “on hold while airport authorities are addressing the problem”.
"The safety and well-being of our guests remain our top priority. Security protocols are also in place to effectively manage on ground situations at the various destinations where we fly to,” AirAsia Philippines spokesperson and first officer Steve Dailisan said in a statement.
“As this is a developing situation, AirAsia Philippines is closely coordinating with airport authorities and will timely update our guests for any relevant information," he added.
Cebu Pacific advisory
Cebu Pacific (CEB) advised its passengers that flights departing and arriving at Naia may experience delays due to the radar issue.
“CEB is coordinating with the necessary authorities on when the situation will normalize. We will provide updates as more information becomes available,” the airline said on Monday.
