Gokongwei-led Cebu Pacific bolstered its fleet with the delivery of its fifth aircraft in 2024, which help address robust demand for air travel despite industry-wide supply chain woes.
Cebu Pacific said its newest fuel-efficient A320neo arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila on May 21.
The latest-generation Airbus NEO aircraft burns 15 percent less fuel compared to the previous generation.
This reduction in fuel consumption leads to a corresponding decrease in aircraft carbon emissions apart from easing costs on operations.
Biggest aircraft order
The BusinessWorld newspaper reported on Monday that Cebu Pacific plans to finalize a $12 billion aircraft order within the next couple of months, citing the airline’s chair, tycoon Lance Gokongwei.
This will be the carrier’s largest-ever order planes, involving 100-150 narrowbody passenger jets from either Airbus or Boeing, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported last year.
Young fleet
Cebu Pacific, the airline subsidiary of Gokongwei-led JG Summit Holdings, operates one of the youngest fleets in the world.
This includes a mix of eight Airbus 330s, 39 Airbus 320s, 21 Airbus 321s, and 14 ATR turboprop aircraft. Cebu Pacific flies to 35 domestic and 24 international destinations spread across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
