Philippines targets net-zero aviation emissions by 2050

The Department of Transportation is aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050 through various initiatives, including the adoption of biofuels and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

During the third ICAO-EASA Forum on Civil Aviation in Southeast Asia, Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista highlighted their partnership with local universities and stakeholders to develop nature-based carbon sink projects.

These projects are designed to meet local air carriers' emission offsetting requirements.

Enhanced cooperation between civil aviation regulatory agencies in Europe and Southeast Asia is also crucial for ensuring aviation safety and sustainability while boosting resilience against regional disruptions, according to the DOTr.
