With these latest additions, BDO Foundation has now rehabilitated a total of 195 RHUs, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening basic healthcare services at the grassroots level.
The newly rehabilitated facilities include the Ivisan Rural Health Unit and Birthing Facility and the Sapian Rural Health Unit and Birthing Clinic in Capiz, the Peñarrubia Rural Health Unit in Abra, and the Pilar Rural Health Unit in Bohol.
In partnership with local government units and municipal health officers, BDO Foundation upgraded both the interiors and exteriors of these health centers, creating environments more conducive to healing and wellness. Some RHUs now feature dedicated areas for senior citizens, children, and breastfeeding mothers, ensuring comfort for all community members during routine check-ups.
Recognizing the crucial role RHUs play in delivering primary healthcare services, BDO Foundation continues to prioritize their rehabilitation. These centers provide accessible healthcare, including basic health checks, immunizations, and preventive care, making them vital to community well-being.
"We want primary healthcare to be accessible and comfortable for Filipinos. We hope our contribution empowers health workers to deliver better services and helps patients receive improved care," said BDO Foundation president Mario Deriquito.
The RHU rehabilitation program remains an ongoing initiative of BDO Foundation, with the support of BDO Unibank and BDO Network Bank branch officers who identify health centers in need of assistance. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
