Insider Spotlight
The company recently highlighted this strategy through its enhanced Livewell Lifestyle Management Program, which was developed with Singapore-based health technology and analytics company Amplify Health and is powered by the AMPED app.
The platform connects members with doctors, nutritionists, coaches, and support services through a single digital channel.
Why it matters
Healthcare providers are increasingly looking at preventive interventions and behavior change programs as a way to help patients manage chronic conditions before they lead to more serious complications and higher treatment costs.
“Livewell is designed to give MediCard members timely, personalized support whenever they need it,” MediCard CEO Julian Mengual said in a press statement.
“It helps individuals achieve their health goals in ways that are practical and relevant to their daily lives, while delivering a more seamless and accessible care experience,” Mengual added.
The details
The program offers one-on-one video consultations, unlimited text-based coaching, access to a lead dietitian, and tools such as AI-powered meal logging, activity tracking, sleep monitoring, and progress reporting. MediCard said all coaches are based in the Philippines and can communicate in English and Tagalog.
One participant living with diabetes described joining the program after struggling to manage nutrition independently and seeking more structured guidance.
What they're saying
“Patients stay consistent because of the milestones we set together. When the goals and expected results are clear, they follow through. And as they go along, we continue to support them, communicate with them, and follow up. They know we care,” MediCard registered dietitian Emma Perida said.
MediCard head of medical governance and capability Dr. Mary Joanne Ramos said successful lifestyle interventions require continuity and adherence. “It must be continuous, consistent, and complete.
Continuous effort, consistent good habits, and complete adherence to medication and follow-ups are what truly move patients toward better health,” she added.
Bottom line
MediCard’s focus on sustained coaching, nutrition guidance, and digital monitoring reflects a broader industry push toward preventive care and long-term disease management rather than treatment alone. —Vanessa Hidalgo| Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
