Under the agreement, eligible YAKAP patients under 1Life can avail themselves of nine laboratory tests at no cost in 23 participating SGD branches across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed by 1Life president Niño Namoco, Laboratory Partnerships and Compliance head Allister Adam Oraña, SGD president Ritche Joseph Manuel Evidente, and COO Norely Gil at SGD’s office in Pasig City.
Why it matters
The initiative supports PhilHealth’s YAKAP program, a preventive healthcare effort aimed at helping Filipinos detect illnesses early and receive appropriate interventions before conditions worsen and require hospitalization.
The program covers all PhilHealth members and their dependents regardless of age. As an accredited YAKAP provider, 1Life facilitates access to these benefits through its healthcare network.
The covered laboratory services include complete blood count, lipid profile, fasting blood sugar, oral glucose tolerance test, HbA1C, urinalysis, fecalysis, fecal occult blood test, and creatinine testing. These diagnostics are commonly used to identify chronic diseases in their early stages, allowing physicians to intervene sooner.
The bigger picture
SGD’s participating branches include locations in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao, and General Santos.
Founded in 2013, SGD has grown to more than 60 locations nationwide and serves over 600 hospitals and clinics, providing the partnership with broad operational reach.
The agreement also marks another growth milestone for 1Life, which said it has served more than one million patients across all 81 provinces and over 1,300 cities and municipalities within two years.
The company uses artificial intelligence-supported clinical workflows designed to reduce multiple healthcare visits into a single encounter.
“Preventive care only works if people can actually get tested, and that has always been 1Life's mission. Partnering with trusted laboratory providers is fundamental to this, because accurate diagnoses and sound treatment decisions begin with reliable diagnostics. When a patient can receive a comprehensive laboratory workup at no cost, that goes beyond diagnosis. That is an opportunity for a healthier life," Namoco said in a press statement.
1Life said it plans to further expand its laboratory network through additional partnerships as it pursues broader access to community-based preventive healthcare. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
