Insider Spotlight
The initiative promotes what the retailer calls a "Total Gut Wellness" journey, combining in-store pharmacy services, trusted gut health products, and expert advice to encourage healthier everyday habits before digestive concerns become more serious.
Why it matters
Many Filipinos experience common digestive issues such as bloating, hyperacidity, and constipation but often delay seeking care until symptoms worsen.
"Many of us have experienced bloating, hyperacidity, constipation, or other digestive concerns. Because they're so common, we often wait until they become uncomfortable before doing something about them," Watsons Health Business Unit senior category manager Zesther Rodriguez said in a press statement.
Rodriguez said the campaign is designed to shift that mindset by promoting preventive care.
"At Watsons, we believe gut care shouldn't start with symptoms, it should start with understanding. That's why this campaign is about helping customers make informed choices through trusted products, expert guidance, and accessible healthcare support," Rodriguez said.
The big picture
Watsons said the campaign reflects its broader commitment to making preventive healthcare more accessible. The retailer aims to simplify customers' wellness journey by combining pharmacist support with a comprehensive range of gut health solutions available across its nationwide network of stores.
Watsons Philippines is the flagship health and beauty retailer of A.S. Watson Group in the country. Globally, the parent company operates more than 16,900 stores across 30 markets under 12 retail brands, employing around 130,000 people. In the Philippines, Watsons has expanded to more than 1,200 stores since opening its first branches in 2002 through a partnership between A.S. Watson Group and SM.
What's next
Watsons said the campaign will continue in the coming months through participating stores nationwide, featuring educational initiatives, pharmacist guidance, free health services, and expert consultations to help more Filipinos improve their digestive health.
"At Watsons, we're committed to making that support easier to access. In the months ahead, we'll continue bringing Build Better Gut Health to participating stores through educational initiatives, trusted pharmacist guidance, free health services, and expert consultations, making digestive wellness more accessible for more Filipinos," Watsons health business unit assistant category manager Camella Gucela said.. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S.
