The mall, together with the Philippine College of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (PCEDM), will hold the Diabetes Community Fair 2026 on July 18 at its Central Garden in observance of Diabetes Awareness Week.
The initiative brings together medical experts, government partners and healthcare organizations to make preventive healthcare more accessible outside traditional medical settings, Robinsons Land said in a statement.
Early detection
Carrying the theme "Hawak Kamay Nating Tugunan ang Hamon ng Diabetes," the event seeks to encourage Filipinos to take a more proactive approach to preventing and managing diabetes.
Diabetes Awareness Week, institutionalized through Proclamation No. 213 signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos, promotes public education and awareness of diabetes prevention.
Throughout the day, visitors can attend health talks led by endocrinologists and other medical professionals, join wellness sessions and community exercise activities, and explore interactive exhibits on nutrition, physical activity, mental wellness and disease prevention.
Free health services, including blood sugar testing and other wellness assessments, will also be offered through participating healthcare and pharmaceutical partners to help identify individuals who may be at risk for diabetes.
Community support
The event will also bring together members of Diabarkada, PCEDM's diabetes support community.
The gathering aims to provide people living with diabetes an opportunity to exchange experiences, learn from one another and strengthen their support networks. Families, caregivers and friends are also encouraged to participate to better understand how they can help loved ones manage the disease.
The Department of Health (DOH) has also confirmed its participation through Dr. Sean Aquino of the Disease Prevention and Control Bureau.
His participation highlights the importance of collaboration among government agencies, medical professionals and private organizations in promoting preventive healthcare and improving health outcomes.
Beyond shopping
For Robinsons Magnolia, the event reflects a broader effort to position malls as community spaces that go beyond shopping by hosting programs that address public health and wellness.
The company said partnerships such as the Diabetes Community Fair demonstrate how commercial spaces can become accessible venues for health education, screening services and meaningful community engagement.
By bringing together healthcare providers, government agencies and community organizations in one location, the initiative seeks to make preventive healthcare more convenient and encourage Filipinos to adopt healthier habits before chronic diseases develop.
The Diabetes Community Fair will be held on July 18 at Robinsons Magnolia's Central Garden. Admission is free and open to the public. Visitors can also follow Robinsons Magnolia and PCEDM on Facebook and Instagram for event updates and announcements. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
