The strategy gained momentum with the opening of Healthway Medical Network's (HMN) flagship facility, the Healthway Multi-Specialty Center One Ayala, another milestone as the healthcare provider celebrates its 28th anniversary this year.
Located within the One Ayala integrated transport hub in Makati City, the center is among HMN's largest outpatient facilities, occupying about 1,300 square meters.
The facility houses 14 consultation rooms, an ambulatory surgery center for outpatient procedures, an endoscopy unit, a 12-chair dialysis center, and a specialized women's center equipped with mammography services.
Patient focus
Speaking during a media briefing on Monday, AC Health chief health officer Dr. Beverly Ho said the flagship center reflects the company's commitment to patient-centered care while making healthcare more accessible.
"This flagship clinic reflects our commitment to better care and patient experience. By establishing comprehensive multi-specialty centers in key transit hubs, we ensure that patients do not have to compromise between their busy schedules and their health," Ho said.
The new facility brings together more than 100 on-site physicians, giving patients access to a broad range of specialists supported by AC Health's nationwide network of 2,800 physicians.
Patients who require more advanced treatment can also be referred seamlessly to specialized facilities within the group's healthcare ecosystem, including the Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in Arca South.
Expansion drive
Healthway Multi-Specialty Centers COO Edwin Magsino said the One Ayala facility forms part of the company's long-term expansion strategy.
"We are actively scaling our footprint to bring high-quality primary and specialized care closer to more communities, driven by our goal to reach 20 multi-specialty clinics by 2027," Magsino said.
The launch raises Healthway's network to 18 multi-specialty centers, complementing its seven hospitals and more than 350 corporate clinics nationwide.
Founded in 1998 as a standalone clinic, Healthway has since evolved into one of the country's largest integrated healthcare providers under AC Health.
Integrated care
The One Ayala facility also features a co-located St. Joseph Drug powered by SUGI pharmacy, allowing Healthway patients to fill their prescriptions through a dedicated priority lane immediately after their consultations.
Luis Yanga, chief operating officer of St. Joseph Drug, said the arrangement is designed to make the pharmacy an integral part of the patient's care journey.
"The pharmacy is often where a patient's journey continues after the consultation. Through St. Joseph Drug powered by SUGI, we're combining St. Joseph Drug's trusted customer care, SUGI's pharmacy and retail expertise, and AC Health's integrated healthcare ecosystem to create a more seamless, convenient, and patient-centered experience," Yanga said.
The integrated setup reflects AC Health's broader strategy of delivering healthcare that combines consultations, diagnostics, treatment, and pharmacy services within a single patient ecosystem. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
