  • AppleOne Medical Group is expanding specialty healthcare outside Metro Manila
  • The company is positioning Brokenshire Heart Institute as a referral center serving patients across Mindanao and BARMM
  • The expansion aligns with AppleOne's broader strategy of growing its healthcare network

AppleOne Group is deepening its healthcare investments in Mindanao as demand grows for specialized medical services outside the capital, betting that expanded regional access can reduce the need for patients to travel for advanced cardiovascular treatment.

The Cebu-based conglomerate's healthcare arm, AppleOne Medical Group (AMG), formally introduced the Brokenshire Medical Center Heart Institute in Davao City, adding a full-spectrum cardiovascular facility to its network as part of its broader regional healthcare expansion.

Why it matters

The new institute expands cardiovascular care options in Mindanao by consolidating preventive screening, diagnostics, interventional cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and long-term disease management under one facility. It is intended to serve as a referral hub for Davao City, Western Mindanao, Northern Mindanao, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and nearby provinces.

By the numbers

AMG currently operates three hospitals across the Visayas and Mindanao: VisayasMed in Cebu, United Shalom in Tacloban, and Brokenshire Medical Center in Davao.

The group also plans to expand through a hub-and-spoke network of satellite care centers located within 50 kilometers of each flagship hospital.

What they're saying

“At AppleOne Medical Group, our goal has always been to elevate the standard of living in Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin) through the places we build, the experiences we offer, and now, through the care we deliver. Establishing AMG in 2020 was a bold step during the height of the pandemic, driven by our purpose and strong belief in the VisMin region. Today, we are even closer to bringing world-class healthcare closer to home,” AppleOne Medical Group president and CEO Ray Go Manigsaca said in a press statement.
