Intellicare, Mitsubishi forge landmark healthcare alliance

Healthcare management provider The Intellicare Group has entered a strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Corp., marking a major step in expanding healthcare solutions and strengthening industry collaboration in the Philippines.

The alliance positions Intellicare and its affiliate Avega Managed Care as the only health maintenance organizations (HMOs) in the country currently collaborating with Japanese companies under Mitsubishi Corporation’s global network.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by Intellicare Group leaders and Mitsubishi executives.

Signatories included Asalus Corp. (Intellicare) president Jeremy G. Matti, Avega Managed Care senior vice president and COO Jerico Dela Cruz, Aventus Medical Care vice president Dr. Sally Gaspar, and Mitsubishi Corp. healthcare department general manager Yutaka Suzuki.

Why it matters

The partnership follows Mitsubishi Corp.’s strategic investment in Fullerton Health, the parent company of the Intellicare Group.

The move strengthens collaboration aimed at delivering innovative and data-driven healthcare solutions, while also opening opportunities for complementary healthcare services in the Philippines and the broader region.

“Our partnership with Mitsubishi Corp. marks a new chapter of growth for Intellicare,” Matti said.

Planned initiatives

Under the agreement, Intellicare plans to roll out a range of healthcare services tailored to Japanese enterprises operating in the Philippines.

These include comprehensive HMO solutions, educational workshops, third-party administration (TPA) services, clinic-based healthcare programs, and customized healthcare structures designed for corporate clients.

The collaboration aims to support Japanese companies in managing employee health benefits more effectively while strengthening healthcare delivery for their local workforce.

Data-driven focus

Mitsubishi Corp.’s global healthcare network and Japan-derived expertise are expected to support Intellicare’s push toward data-driven healthcare management.

The partnership will focus on developing integrated services that enable companies to better manage medical costs while improving access to quality healthcare.

Suzuki said the collaboration combines the strengths of both organizations to support more efficient healthcare systems.

“By leveraging our complementary strengths, we are dedicated to building a data-driven platform that enables companies to manage medical costs more effectively and intelligently,” he said.

The initiative also seeks to expand partnerships with Japanese medical networks and healthcare technologies, potentially unlocking new innovations and operational efficiencies.

Shared vision ahead

Intellicare Group chair Mario M. Silos said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to improving healthcare outcomes in the Philippines.

“With our shared vision and synergy, it is our greatest hope that we will be able to achieve a meaningful impact in building something greater for the Philippines,” Silos said.

The partnership aligns with Intellicare’s “Ripple of Care” philosophy, which promotes the idea that investing in employee health creates broader benefits. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
