The Aboitiz Group’s airport division and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) are working to level up tourism in Cebu, with a focus on the meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
CCCI and Aboitiz InfraCapital GMCAC (AGMCAC), which operates the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, hosted a recent business forum to explore opportunities and new airline routes linking the Queen City of the South.
“We have several projects in the pipeline such as the recently launched Cebu Connect which is an airport transfer hub designed to cut layover time for both domestic and international flights to and from Cebu,” Athanasios Titonis, CEO of AGMCAC, said in a statement.
“This project also enables airlines to develop more routes because of the shortened connecting time allowed by Cebu Connect,” he added.
New infrastructure projects at Cebu gateway include the construction of the Airport Village and a new Terminal 2 car park.
“Through engagement and collaboration with key leaders in the Mice sector, we will be able to address gaps in the industry and set global standards when it comes to delivering effective Mice events that would further enhance the country’s tourism landscape,” CCCI President Jay Yuvallos said.
