State-run Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) is set to unveil the country’s tallest air traffic control (ATC) tower, an 18-story structure designed to enhance air traffic safety and efficiency.

Awarded to MSV Construction and Northern Builders Construction Corp., the tower will resolve line-of-sight issues on the north-end runway approach.

It will feature cutting-edge communication technology used in top global airports to optimize operations.

With its panoramic airfield view, controllers will have maximum visibility for safer and smoother traffic management.

“Our country’s airports frequently face perennial challenges such as airspace congestion, equipment breakdown, weather disturbances, and the complexity of air traffic management,” said CIAC president Jojit Alcazar.

“The surge in travel volume adds up to the challenges faced by ATC operations at Clark, and so a new system capable to quickly identify and mitigate these challenges is needed,” he added.
