New at NAIA: Automated carpark payments, displays for real-time slot availability

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has launched an automated parking system at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to streamline entry and exit for passengers and visitors, reducing congestion and improving efficiency.

The system went live at Terminal 3 on March 1, 2025, with Terminals 1 and 2 set to follow on March 14, 2025. To further enhance convenience, real-time parking slot displays will be installed at Terminal 3 by April and at Terminals 1 and 2 by May, allowing drivers to check available spaces before entering the facility.

The new automated process allows drivers to enter through unmanned gates, receive a QR code-based ticket, and exit seamlessly without manual processing. This is expected to reduce waiting times and improve traffic flow around the airport.

Currently, the system only accepts cash payments, but starting March 14, 2025, it will support digital wallets (GCash, PayMaya), debit, and credit cards, offering passengers more flexibility. By July 2025, autopay stations will be installed at all terminals, expediting transactions and minimizing queues.

The San Miguel Corp.-led NNIC consortium, which took over operations of NAIA in September 2024, has been implementing modernization initiatives aimed at enhancing passenger experience. The improved parking system is one of several upgrades planned under its management.

The latest initiative is part of NNIC’s broader commitment to modernize airport infrastructure, optimize traffic management, and elevate the overall convenience for travelers and visitors.
