The statement follows an incident involving an empty bullet shell found in a passenger’s luggage at NAIA Terminal 3. OTS has started an investigation and will release findings shortly.
“Regarding reports of a suspected empty bullet shell detected in a passenger's bag during screening at NAIA Terminal 3, NNIC immediately coordinated with OTS and reviewed CCTV footage related to the case,” the company, led by tycoon Ramon S. Ang, said on Monday.
“OTS has taken the lead in the investigation and will be issuing a statement to discuss their findings and any next steps,” it added.
Passenger safety and restoring public confidence remain key priorities, NNIC stated.
In a separate event, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon announced the firing of three airport employees linked to an alleged “tanim-bala” incident at NAIA.
“To prevent similar incidents and strengthen public confidence, NNIC is working with OTS to reinforce security monitoring, proper screening procedures, and transparency in security operations. Our priority is to maintain an airport environment that is safe and efficient for all travelers,” NNIC said.
“NNIC remains committed to working with the OTS and other authorities to provide a secure and seamless airport experience,” it added.
