Businesses, civic groups, schools and government agencies are being called on to expand support for Filipino educators as the 2026 National Teachers’ Month campaign pushes for more localized initiatives addressing teachers’ needs.

Carrying the theme “Teacher, Ikaw Naman!” the campaign is led by the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council, with Metrobank Foundation Inc. serving as lead and secretariat. It aims to align partner programs with priority areas identified by the Second Congressional Commission on Education or EDCOM II.

Why it matters

Metrobank Foundation president and NTMCC chairperson Philip Francisco Dy said stronger alignment between organizations and education priorities could make teacher-focused investments more effective.

“EDCOM II has given us a clearer picture of where our teachers need us most. By aligning our efforts with identified needs, we can maximize the impact of every contribution and create lasting benefits for teachers and learners alike,” Dy said.

The 2025 celebration brought together 70 partner organizations and reached thousands of teachers nationwide, the Metrobank Foundation said in a company release.

For 2026, organizers are encouraging companies and institutions to use existing corporate social responsibility programs or develop new initiatives supporting educators.

The opportunity

Philippine Amusement and Entertainment Corp. president and CEO Lawrence Li Tan said participation also allows organizations to connect their respective missions with a national education initiative.

“Being part of the National Teachers' Month movement has been a meaningful privilege for PAEC,” Tan said. “More than building destinations, we create spaces where learning comes to life, allowing us to celebrate and support teachers every day.”

Teacher Education Council executive director V Dr. Jennie V. Jocson said the initiative has also helped broaden public discussion around teacher education and development.

“The National Teachers' Month has reinforced the Teacher Education Council's role as the government's primary agency for teacher education and development,” Jocson said.

What partners can do

Organizations can support professional learning, wellness and mental health programs, financial literacy, digital learning and technology initiatives, and teacher recognition activities.

City Savings Bank assistant vice president and reputation and brand management head Paula Viegelmann-Ruelan said supporting educators creates benefits beyond the classroom.

“When we invest in educators, we're really investing in every student, every classroom, and every community they touch.”
