This follows its successful award of the Laguindingan Airport concession earlier this year and its full takeover of Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the country’s busiest gateway outside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila.
Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC), the infrastructure arm of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, received the notice of award for the Bohol-Panglao International Airport from the Department of Transportation and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines on Nov. 18, 2024.
The concession agreement’s official signing is expected by the end of 2024.
This is also AIC’s second successful airport Public-Private Partnership project this year, following its unsolicited bid win for the Laguindingan International Airport.
Aboitiz readies P4.5-billion expansion
AIC will expand the passenger terminal, modernize airside and landside facilities, and install advanced equipment under a 30-year concession.
Bohol-Panglao International Airport, the ninth-busiest gateway in the Philippines, has a capacity of two million passengers per year.
This will grow to 2.5 million in one to two years and 3.9 million by 2030.
Management’s view
“This project is not just about upgrading facilities but also about boosting economic opportunities, enhancing tourism, and improving connectivity in the Visayas region, and we are excited to be a part of this initiative,” said Aboitiz InfraCapital president and CEO Cosette V. Canilao.
Bohol to get world-class gateway
“Bohol-Panglao International Airport is a fast-growing gateway to one of the Philippines’ most emerging and iconic tourism destinations, and we are honored to play a role in elevating its stature,” said AIC vice president and head of airports business Rafael Aboitiz.
“Through this project, we aim to bring the same level of excellence and innovation that we are demonstrating with Mactan-Cebu International Airport,” he added.
