Smart Communications Inc. has tapped seasoned executives to guide the company while chief operations officer Anastacio "Boy" Martirez is on leave.
Lloyd Manaloto and Marjorie “Marj” Garrovillo have been named officers-in-charge, bringing strong consumer marketing backgrounds and proven leadership credentials to one of the country’s top telecommunications players, according to an insider.
Manaloto is first vice president for strategy and corporate brand while Garrovillo joined Smart last July 1 as first vice president for marketing, brand head, and sales and development head.
She previously served as chief marketing officer of Nestlé Philippines, where she managed brands for the $3 billion Swiss consumer goods conglomerate.
Manaloto has been with Smart since 2004 and has two decades of experience in telecommunications, media, and consumer goods.
His career includes senior leadership at TV5 as vice president and chief of staff, along with brand management roles at Sara Lee in the Philippines and Thailand and with Metrolab.
For her part, Garrovillo has 25 years of global leadership at Nestlé, Danone, FrieslandCampina, Unilever, Coca-Cola, and AkzoNobel.
She earned a reputation for business turnarounds, having restored profitability at Danone’s joint venture in Australia and leading a transformation program at FrieslandCampina Vietnam.
Both executives are graduates of Ateneo de Manila University: Garrovillo completed a degree in Management Economics a few years before Manaloto finished his Management Engineering program.
She also completed executive and leadership programs at London Business School and IMD.
