Insider Spotlight
The Ayala-led bank's board of directors approved the succession plan, which will take effect following BPI's annual stockholders' meeting, subject to regulatory approvals.
The announcement was made in a letter to the bank’s staff on the morning of Oct. 22, 2026 by BPI chair Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, who said the transition would ensure continuity while positioning the bank for further growth.
Who is Ginbee Go?
Go, BPI's executive vice president and head of consumer banking, has spent 23 years at the bank. She previously led BPI Family Savings Bank through its transformation and integration with BPI.
As consumer banking head, she oversaw efforts to expand retail distribution, integrate physical and digital banking channels, and introduce artificial intelligence-enabled capabilities.
Go topped the 1991 CPA licensure examination, graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines Diliman and earned an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School.
Before joining BPI, she held positions at Citibank, Ayala Land and Procter & Gamble.
Why it matters
BPI serves more than 19 million customers and employs over 23,000 Filipinos. Its leadership change will place a banker closely associated with consumer finance and digital transformation in charge of one of the country's largest financial institutions.
The announcement also signals continuity for Limcaoco, who will remain a BPI director and take on senior governance assignments at other Ayala operating companies. Those roles will be announced later.
"TG has brought BPI to tremendous new heights as CEO over the past five years, and we are grateful for the strong platform that we will now be building upon," Zobel said.
What's next
Go will join the Ayala Group management committee upon becoming CEO.
She and Limcaoco will work together in the coming months to complete the transition while BPI continues its banking modernization and financial inclusion initiatives.
