INSIDER INFO: Megaworld, The Farm at San Benito seal ‘integrated wellness township’ deal

It took them over a year to finalize and formalize the deal but it looks like the country’s wellness adherents are finally getting the upscale development they’ve been clamoring for.

We heard from insider sources that property developer Megaworld is set to launch a partnership with luxury wellness and holistic medical resort The Farm at San Benito. The goal is to build what it describes internally as an “integrated wellness township” on the sprawling Lipa City, Batangas estate.

The plan calls for Megaworld to develop approximately half of The Farm’s 52-hectare property into a themed area that will feature residential properties (condos as well as low-rise structures) and commercial elements that hew closely to the look and feel of this upscale resort.

At present, The Farm offers membership packages that range from P1.1 million at the entry level tier to P4.4 million for the top tier, just like any other exclusive club.

“But with the Megaworld partnership, residents who own units in the township will have access to The Farm’s facilities and services,” said our insider. “They will still have to pay for these services, but not the membership fee anymore.”

One of the highlights of the project is the fact that The Farm is situated on an elevated area, which will allow visitors and residents to enjoy good weather, especially during the cooler months.

This resort destination was also named the “Best Eco-Luxury Holistic Medical Wellness Resort” at the Southeast Asia Business Awards in 2022.

Word on the street is that this project’s launch is imminent and will be formally announced soon, following the entry of Megaworld founder Andrew Tan as a key backer.

Kevin Tan
The CEO of Alliance Global — Megaworld's parent — has doubled down on the group's tourism and leisure development thrust.

Megaworld, of course, is now helmed by the founder’s son Kevin who has made tourism and leisure a key business thrust of the group for the coming years. So this project with The Farm is right up his alley.

As such, Megaworld has invested heavily in these areas, like the 462-hectare Paragua Coastown in San Vicente, Palawan, which is its first eco-tourism township. Other large developments in major tourist destinations across the Philippines include the 150-hectare Boracay Newcoast in Boracay and the 1,200-hectare Twin Lakes in Laurel, Batangas, near Tagaytay.
