Celebrating Cebu’s strength and optimism
It chose pearl as inspiration for the central theme of its celebration — “Pearl of the Holiday Season” — because pearl is a symbol of resilience and transformation.
The illuminated tree now stands as a centerpiece of the resort’s festivities and a reminder of NUSTAR’s commitment to spreading hope and joy throughout the season.
Pearl as a symbol of transformation
Sean Knights, NUSTAR chief operating officer, pointed out that pearls are born through time, pressure and transformation.
These are transformed from something ordinary to something radiant and a symbol of beauty, strength, and grace, he added.
“In many ways, it mirrors our story as a community and as a resort. Cebu, like the pearl, continues to rise with resilience and shines brighter with every challenge it overcomes,” said Knights in a statement.
“Every year, this celebration gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect; to celebrate how far we’ve come, and to remind us of what truly matters. This year’s theme, “Pearl of the Holiday Season,” holds a special meaning for all of us,” he added.
Installation of the Stars tradition continues
Now in its fourth year, NUSTAR has continued its Installation of the Stars, a tradition symbolizing love, joy, peace, hope, and Cebu’s shared aspiration for renewal.
This year’s star bearers were the children of The Children of Cebu Foundation, Inc. (TCCFI), the resort’s chosen beneficiary.
The final star, known as the New Star, was placed by Knights, representing Cebu’s collective optimism for the future.
Support for The Children of Cebu Foundation
Through its philanthropic arm, the Universal Cultural Foundation Inc. (UCFI), NUSTAR extended support to The Children of Cebu Foundation.
The initiative will fund essential repairs and new equipment to improve the foundation’s facilities, creating a safer and more nurturing space for more than 30 resident and transient children.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Children of Cebu Foundation Inc., the Staff and most of all our Children at the Parian Drop-in Center, we welcome the collaboration with NUSTAR with joyful and grateful hearts,” said Margot Osmeña, president of the Children of Cebu Foundation, Inc. and wife of Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
“It is because of partners like [NUSTAR] that we have been blessed to receive and provide a home to over 6,000 children over the past 33 years,” she added.
Festive offerings across the property
Across the property, NUSTAR’s dining outlets and hotels present a full calendar of festive experiences.
At its mall, the spirit of the season grows brighter with upcoming musical performances, family-friendly events, among others.
Guests can also look forward to new retail experiences as the property welcomes soon-to-open tenants, including Lucky Lantern, Carmen’s Best Ice Cream, Bruno’s Barber, Kamiseta Skin Clinic, Ramen Nagi, and Playville by Kid’s Paradise.
