Fridays Boracay under Radisson brand delays 2026 reopening; launch pushed back 2 years

The long-awaited comeback of Friday’s Boracay is facing another setback.

The island’s once-iconic beachfront resort has been closed since March 2020 and has yet to begin reconstruction, meaning it will miss its planned 2026 reopening, according to a new filing from owner Boulevard Holdings Inc. (BHI).

The property, set to be rebranded under the Radisson Collection luxury line, could open by 2028, based on the timeline suggested in the filing.

No construction yet

BHI’s subsidiary Friday’s Holdings Inc. (FHI), which owns and operates the resort, said the original 51-room property was demolished in August 2023, but construction has not yet started.

“The project is expected to commence once the design is finalized and necessary permits are secured, which is anticipated to be completed by January 2026, with construction planned to begin shortly thereafter,” according to the latest financial report of BHI, which is led by businessman Jose Marcel E. Panlilio

2028 opening?

Based on the filing, operations are now projected to resume two years after construction begins, or around 2028.

Once complete, the new resort will feature around 110 rooms, multiple restaurants and bars, a wedding pavilion, and an infinity pool with a lap pool.

Boulevard Holdings also operates the Friday’s Puerto Galera resort, now fully reopened after storm repairs and pandemic closures, and is developing the Friday’s Siargao Beach Resort in Surigao del Norte to expand its island portfolio.
