The deal with Accor formalizes the conversion of the roughly 1,530-room Grand Westside into Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside, securing a global hospitality brand for what will stand as a flagship in the Entertainment City casino complex.
Brand alignment, systems integration, and operational upgrades begin next year, leading to an opening before the end of 2026.
The Accor Group is a giant in the global hospitality industry, operating hotels under brands like Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles and Swissotel.
Accor doubles down on the Philippine market
“This landmark hotel reflects our shared ambition to bring elevated, experience-driven hospitality to one of the country’s most dynamic destinations,” said Garth Simmons, chief operating officer for Accor in Asia.
“We are proud to collaborate with Megaworld on a project that will contribute meaningfully to the Philippines’ tourism growth,” he added.
Megaworld eyes global traffic
Accor’s worldwide reservation network and loyalty ecosystem, ALL Accor, are expected to drive foreign-market visibility and strengthen Manila’s tourism reach once the property reopens.
By attaching a top global brand to Grand Westside, Megaworld is betting scale, namepower and international integration will help draw more travelers into Westside City.
“The opening of the world’s largest Mövenpick is a powerful testament to our group’s efforts to scale our world-class offerings and meet the demands of the broader international market,” said Cleofe Albiso, managing director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.
Megaworld Hotels & Resorts currently manages nearly 7,000 room keys across 15 properties, with six additional hotels adding more than 2,000 keys in the pipeline.
Westside City as Manila’s hospitality engine
The 19-storey, two-tower Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside sits inside the 31-hectare Westside City township in Parañaque, connected via skybridge to the future casino-entertainment complex.
The hotel will also link directly to the Grand Opera House, part of a vision to position Manila as the “Broadway of Asia.”
Four specialty dining outlets and a Manila Bay-facing pool deck round out the development’s leisure offering.
“As we rebrand Grand Westside Hotel into the world’s largest Mövenpick, we continue to generate more jobs, help drive stronger tourism activity, and open doors for communities to grow alongside this development,” Albiso said.
