The company received the Institute of Corporate Directors' first-ever Golden Arrow Hall of Fame Award after earning Five Golden Arrows for five consecutive years, reflecting its sustained compliance with corporate governance standards.
Governance scorecard
Strong governance practices support investor confidence, shareholder protection, and responsible business decisions, particularly as telecommunications companies manage increasingly complex digital operations.
Globe's recognition follows its consistent performance under the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS), which evaluates publicly listed companies based on shareholder rights, sustainability, resilience, transparency, and board accountability.
Companies must achieve at least 115 points to qualify for Five Golden Arrows, the highest distinction under the assessment.
Protecting stakeholder interests
The updated ACGS framework aligns with the G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance, placing greater emphasis on sustainability disclosures, digital governance, and environmental, social, and governance integration.
For Globe, maintaining these standards is part of its broader approach to managing business responsibilities and protecting stakeholder interests.
“At Globe, our purpose anchors everything we do: we treat people right to create a Globe of Good. That means protecting shareholders’ rights, being transparent and accountable in our decisions, and taking responsibility for the service our customers depend on. The same purpose guides how we govern and how we serve,” Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz said in a press statement.
Globe's corporate governance track record extends to 2012, when it became the only telecommunications company recognized at the Philippine Stock Exchange Bell Awards for Excellence in Corporate Governance.
The company subsequently received distinctions under the ASEAN Corporate Governance Awards, including recognition among the Top 20 Publicly Listed Companies and as a Top Performing Publicly Listed Company in the Philippines.
Responsible innovation
Globe's continued adherence to governance standards remains relevant as the company pursues responsible innovation and sustainable growth across its businesses.
The latest recognition also reflects governance practices within the Ayala Group, with Ayala Corporation and Bank of the Philippine Islands likewise receiving Five Golden Arrows in 2026. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
