Aboitiz Power Corp.'s earnings momentum weakened in the third quarter as lower coal plant availability dragged down profits, cutting into gains from stronger electricity prices and new renewable energy capacity.

Net income fell 26 percent to P7.8 billion from P10.6 billion a year earlier, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) declined 8 percent to P20.4 billion.

Nine-month gains hold

Despite the quarterly setback, nine-month net income rose 13 percent to P26.2 billion, while core profit climbed 11 percent to P25.5 billion.

Higher electricity prices, increased contracted capacity and contributions from the Caliraya-Botocan-Kalayaan hydroelectric complex and new solar plants helped cushion the impact of weaker coal operations.

Power sales climb

Electricity sales rose 9 percent to 35,105 gigawatt-hours, lifting EBITDA from generation and retail electricity supply by 14 percent to P58 billion.

The distribution business delivered a more modest 1 percent EBITDA increase to P7.1 billion, even as electricity sales grew 8 percent.

Debt and liquidity

AboitizPower ended September with P60.2 billion in cash against P331.2 billion in interest-bearing debt, leaving its net debt-to-equity ratio at 1.2 times.

Total assets reached P647.8 billion, up 4 percent from December 2025, as the company expanded its power portfolio.
