Menardo “Butch” G. Jimenez Jr., an heir to the family behind broadcasting giant GMA Network and a veteran executive at PLDT Inc., has been honored for his contributions to corporate leadership and business transformation.

Jimenez serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer of PLDT, one of the Philippines' largest telecommunications companies, whose group employs more than 14,500 people.

He received the Legacy Icon of Excellence in Corporate Leadership and Business Transformation award at Okada Manila on Oct. 26.

Nearly 25 years at PLDT

Jimenez has spent nearly 25 years at PLDT since joining in December 2001, rising through the ranks while overseeing major parts of the company's operations.

His previous roles covered consumer services, corporate communications, human resources and business transformation, including a stint as network head in 2024.

Before joining PLDT, he worked at GMA Network, where he headed creative services and network promotions, according to the telecommunications company's latest annual report.

A different measure of success

“To be recognized not so much for what you achieve but for what you will leave behind is special,” Jimenez wrote on Facebook, thanking the organizers and acknowledging fellow honorees.

“We will not be remembered for what we gained or got but for what we gave,” he added, reflecting on the meaning of the award.
