DivinaLaw founder Nilo Divina keeps an open mind when hiring beyond the University of Santo Tomas (UST), saying other top schools are “also very good.”

“From the beginning we are very clear on our goals and objective, and that is to recruit the best talent that our money and resources can afford,” Divina, the UST law dean, said during their 20th anniversary celebration last Friday.

“Yes, we need to recruit from UP as well, Ateneo, La Salle, and San Beda, because UST can recognize good law schools also,” he added with a smile.

The University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and San Beda University are considered among the country’s best universities, with top law programs.

The hiring practice is working out, as the firm’s lawyers have made the Philippines’ top 100 legal professionals list for eight consecutive years.

“So these [schools] are also very good, as appreciated by UST. That’s why we decided to recruit from these other top universities,” he said.

Divina founded DivinaLaw in 2006 with a team of four other lawyers, all of them from UST.
