Business leader Oscar Reyes, Meralco’s former CEO, passes away at 79

Oscar S. Reyes, one of the country’s most respected business leaders and former president and CEO of Manila Electric Co., has passed away on Oct. 3, 2025, the electricity distributor announced.

He was 79 years old. 

“His visionary leadership profoundly impacted the legacy of Meralco's service,” Meralco said. 

“We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers to the family of Mr. Oscar S. Reyes during this time of profound loss,” it added. 

At the time of his passing, he was serving as an independent director of PXP Energy and D.M. Wenceslao & Associates, continuing a long career at the helm of leading corporations. 

He was also chairman of Pepsi Cola Products Philippines and previously held senior roles at Shell, Sun Life, and Pioneer, among many others.
