In an internal memorandum addressed to MediaQuest’s senior management, Vargas confirmed his return to work on November 3, 2026, and announced that the search for a new TV5 president was underway.
The leadership transition comes as the media conglomerate pursues organizational restructuring, financial reforms and programming partnerships aimed at achieving sustainable profitability.
Leadership transition
Vargas said he would concurrently serve as TV5 president and CEO until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Zaballero, who served MediaQuest for nearly 14 years, decided to relinquish his leadership position for personal reasons.
Vargas acknowledged Zaballero’s contributions to the organization and expressed respect for his decision.
The memorandum did not identify prospective candidates for the TV5 presidency or specify when an appointment would be made.
Financial transformation
Vargas also recognized Chris Lizo for providing leadership during his absence, particularly in strategic planning and organizational restructuring.
Lizo spearheaded efforts to transform MediaQuest’s financial operations while overseeing initiatives addressing employee welfare.
Vargas likewise thanked businessman Manuel Pangilinan for his guidance and support during the transition.
The management changes come amid efforts to improve operational efficiency and establish a more sustainable financial structure across the MediaQuest group.
Content partnerships
Vargas credited Chaye Cabal-Revilla for initiatives strengthening the group’s television network, programming and entertainment operations.
These included improvements in production efficiency, cost management and collaboration with ABS-CBN’s ASAP and Vibe+.
The partnerships are expected to create additional opportunities for MediaQuest’s homegrown talents while expanding its content production capabilities.
The memorandum underscored the group’s intention to combine financial discipline with stronger programming and production operations.
Vargas identified the group’s overarching objective as building “A sustainable and profitable MediaQuest.”
The memorandum did not disclose financial targets, restructuring costs or a timetable for achieving that objective.
