Tony Hayward previously led BP, one of the world’s largest oil and energy companies, and later chaired commodities giant Glencore.
Hayward, the former CEO of BP, joined the Prime Infra board effective Aug. 10 while remaining chair of SierraCol Energy.
Management’s view
“We welcome Tony to the board. His decades of experience across the global energy industry, particularly in upstream and international markets, will bring valuable perspective as we expand our portfolio, integrate new platforms such as SierraCol, and pursue opportunities that can create long-term value for Prime Infra,” said Razon, and chair of Prime Infra.
“I am delighted to join the Prime Infra board as the company continues to expand its international presence,” Hayward said in the same statement.
“Prime Infra has built a strong track record in developing and operating critical infrastructure, and I look forward to contributing my experience as the company pursues further growth across the energy sector and beyond,” he added.
Prime Infra goes global
Prime Infra acquired SierraCol in March, gaining Colombia’s largest independent oil and gas exploration and production company.
The acquisition gave Razon’s infrastructure group a sizable upstream platform and marked a major step in its international expansion.
Razon’s Prime Infra controls Manila Water, one of the country’s biggest water concessionaires, and operates the Malampaya gas project that supports about 20 percent of Luzon’s power needs.
It also owns major assets in water, renewable energy, waste management and Colombian oil and gas.
Hayward’s appointment gives the group deeper expertise to integrate SierraCol, evaluate new energy investments and build Prime Infra into a larger international infrastructure player.
