Brion-Lirio, who has led the real estate investment trust sine it went public in 2021, is 56 years old while Yap is 75 years old, based on the company’s latest annual report.
Filinvest REIT said in a regulatory filing on Monday that Yap will take over as president and CEO effective Oct. 15, while retaining the FILRT chairmanship he has held since April 2024.
He is no stranger to the business behind the REIT: Yap ran Filinvest Land Inc. (FLI), FILRT’s sponsor, as president and CEO from 2007 to 2012 and served on its board from 1997 to 2015.
Yap is also the husband of FLI vice chair Lourdes Josephine “Joji” Gotianun-Yap, daughter of the the late taipan, Andrew Gotianun Sr.
His career spans more than four decades across real estate, banking and finance, followed by a stint as Philippine ambassador to Singapore from 2018 to 2022.
Lirio will retire as president and CEO and resign from FILRT’s board on Oct. 15, while treasurer and chief finance officer Ana Venus A. Mejia will take her board seat.
