Insider Spotlight
Sotto visited Ninong Ry for an hour-long episode on the content creator's YouTube channel, where the pair cooked, ate and discussed Sotto's career. Hanabishi said the episode had already attracted more than 4 million views.
Dream collaboration
The collaboration gives Hanabishi a way to reinforce its four-decade presence in Filipino households while tapping two personalities with audiences spanning traditional television and digital content.
“Bossing Vic has been a brand ambassador of Hanabishi for many years already, and we have worked with Ninong Ry countless times. Bringing them together was a dream collaboration for us as we mark our 40th year,” Hanabishi Appliances VP for finance and marketing Cherish Ong-Chua said in a press statement.
Made with Hanabishi products
Ninong Ry prepared fried mantou, steamed fish and his version of Dong Po pork using several Hanabishi products, including a professional stand mixer, food steamer, electric pressure cooker and juice extractor.
After the meal, Sotto discussed his beginnings in show business, including entering the industry through music before moving into comedy. He also reflected on the evolution of comedy and the beginnings of Eat Bulaga in 1979, saying he looks forward to the program's 50th anniversary.
Quality appliances
Sotto also drew a parallel between the longevity of the noontime program and the appliance brand.
“Parang Eat Bulaga ang Hanabishi,” Sotto said. “For 40 years, subok na ng buong bayan.”
Hanabishi said the milestone also recognizes the consumers and partners who have supported the Filipino appliance brand over the years.
“As we celebrate our 40th year this year, we thank all the people who have partnered with us like Bossing Vic and Ninong Ry, and everyone who has chosen Hanabishi as their ka-partner in their homes and even their offices. As we look forward to more years in the industry, we will continue to fulfill our promise of providing quality appliances for Filipino families,” Ong-Chua said. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S.
