Insider Spotlight
Coffee Home Brewers (CHB), a grassroots coffee organization with more than 67,000 members, is bringing its flagship convention back to Paseo de Roxas on Oct. 10-11, turning the Makati thoroughfare into a sprawling destination for coffee education, competition and community.
The big picture
KapeCon is returning on a bigger scale following a debut that drew 15,000 people over two days last year. Organizers expect an even larger turnout as the convention expands its footprint while keeping admission completely free.
“The best thing about Kapecon is it provides an accessible platform for coffee enthusiasts of all persuasions, from amateur coffee lovers to professional coffee entrepreneurs to connect, share knowledge, or simply hang out and enjoy each other’s company,” Coffee Home Brewers founder Rosario Juan said.
That accessibility is central to KapeCon’s pitch. Rather than catering exclusively to specialty coffee professionals, the convention is bringing together home brewers, entrepreneurs, producers and people who simply enjoy their daily cup.
What’s brewing
Among the returning attractions is Kape’t Kamay, where teams of brewers compete while literally coupled together, adding an unconventional twist to coffee competitions.
Visitors can also join tasting sessions showcasing different coffee origins and interactive brewing workshops. Direct-trade showcases will give Philippine coffee producers another avenue to meet consumers and strengthen connections across the local coffee supply chain.
Beyond the cup
KapeCon is expanding its roster of coffee and coffee-adjacent partners, positioning the gathering as a wider cultural and lifestyle experience built around the country’s growing coffee community.
A full program of panel discussions, activities and sponsor activations will be released by organizers.
