Anton Reynaldo Bonifacio, the executive who helped build Globe Telecom Inc.’s cybersecurity operation before becoming its first artificial intelligence chief, is leaving after 12 years with the company.

Bonifacio, who is in his early 40s, will step down as chief intelligence and trust officer and leave corporate life effective Jan. 1, 2027, Globe said in a stock exchange filing on Monday.

His departure comes less than three years after Globe named him its first chief AI officer in 2024, putting him in charge of bringing greater focus to the telco’s AI strategy, adoption and governance.

His mandate widened last June when Globe placed AI, data, cybersecurity, privacy and digital policy under a single office headed by Bonifacio.

"Mr. Bonifacio represented Globe in important conversations with technology and telecommunications leaders, both here and in the global space, bringing a perspective that is technically rigorous, deeply practical, but always distinctly human," Globe said in the filing.

"Globe has been established not only as an adopter of emerging technology, but also a credible voice in shaping how technology can be deployed responsibly and at scale. Beyond these achievements, however, Mr. Bonifacio’s enduring legacy lives in the people he developed, the teams he empowered, and those he encouraged to question assumptions and imagine what might be possible," it added.

Before the AI role, Bonifacio served as chief information security officer, helping build the cybersecurity and privacy organization protecting Globe’s telecommunications infrastructure and digital businesses.

"Mr. Bonifacio created space for people to experiment, learn, and lead, challenging Globe to look further ahead while never losing sight of Globe’s people and customers," Globe said.

"We are grateful for Mr. Bonifacio’s courage and foresight, and for taking the helm of Globe’s journey into cybersecurity, information security, and the then-unknown field of AI. Mr. Bonifacio guided our employees not only into using these technologies to benefit the organization and their personal lives, but to thrive alongside their evolution with proper safeguards."

Garrett Silao will take over as officer-in-charge starting Jan. 1 and report directly to Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz.

The transition puts Silao in charge of a broad technology portfolio as Globe keeps AI, data protection and cybersecurity central to its long-term strategy.
