“We are honored to welcome Secretary Sonny Dominguez to Megaworld’s Board of Directors,” Megaworld chair Andrew Tan said in a statement on Tuesday.
“His depth of experience and strategic perspective will be invaluable as the company enters its next chapter of growth,” the tycoon added.
Megaworld is the Andrew Tan-led developer behind integrated townships, residential projects, offices, malls and hotels across the Philippines.
Government and business veteran
Dominguez served as finance secretary during the Duterte administration from 2016 to 2022, leading the Department of Finance through major economic and fiscal reforms.
He previously headed the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
His private-sector career spans banking, power, aviation, agriculture, mining, hospitality, real estate and investments.
Decades of corporate leadership
Dominguez also served as chair and president of Philippine Airlines and held leadership roles at Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corp., BPI Agricultural Development Bank and RCBC Capital Corp.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Business Management from Ateneo de Manila University and attended Stanford University’s Executive Management Program.
The company said Dominguez’s appointment would strengthen independent oversight as it expands across key business and tourism destinations.
