He joins his sister Paloma Urquijo, creative director of Ayala Land Hospitality, and cousin Mariana Zobel de Ayala, senior vice president and head of leasing and hospitality, at the real estate giant.
The shift places the group’s chief sustainability and risk officer into an operating role overseeing urban estates, the country’s oldest conglomerate said in a stock exchange filing on Tuesday.
“Mr. Urquijo will lead the continued development of Ayala’s Metro Manila estates as it strengthens its efforts to build sustainable and distinctive urban communities,” Ayala Corp. said.
In this new capacity, he will also serve as member of the Ayala Land management committee and the investment committee.
Urquijo, the son of Beatriz Zobel de Ayala, moves into Ayala Land as the property giant leans into the development of integrated estates to drive growth.
Paolo Maximo F. Borromeo will take on the role of chief social infrastructure officer while remaining president and chief executive of Ayala Healthcare Holdings, the company also announced on Tuesday.
He will oversee the group’s healthcare, education, and community development businesses, along with sustainability, state affairs, and external communications.
