The appointment was approved during the company's board of directors' organizational meeting following its annual stockholders' meeting on May 29.
Chen assumes both executive and board responsibilities effective immediately, succeeding Andy Tsui, who stepped down after serving as president and director for more than four years.
Why it matters
The leadership transition places a seasoned dealmaker at the helm of one of the Philippines' largest digital entertainment operators as it seeks to sustain growth and strengthen its market position.
According to a company release, Chen brings more than 22 years of experience across investment banking, corporate finance, strategic investments, and executive leadership in Asia and global markets.
Before joining DigiPlus, Chen served as chief financial officer, chief investment officer, and executive committee member of one of Asia's largest publicly listed technology and services conglomerates.
He also spent two decades in global investment banking, holding senior leadership roles at Moelis & Company, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citi, and Morgan Stanley.

Tanco said.

The big picture
DigiPlus has emerged as a major player in the Philippine digital entertainment sector through its flagship platforms BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone, which offer interactive gaming and sports entertainment experiences.

Chen holds a Master of Philosophy in Financial Engineering from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Management Studies from Imperial College London, where he graduated at the top of the first class. —Princess Daisy C.
