Veloso has been nominated for election at the company’s upcoming annual stockholders’ meeting, while Katigbak, the president and CEO of ABS-CBN Corp., will serve as special adviser after reaching the Securities and Exchange Commission’s 12-year limit for independent directors.
“Junie brings a wealth of experience in corporate finance, banking, capital markets, and strategic leadership,” SSI president and CEO Anthony T. Huang said in a statement.
“His deep expertise and proven track record will further strengthen our Board as SSI continues to execute its long-term growth strategy and create sustainable value for our shareholders.”
Katigbak stays on
Veloso retired in 2025 after more than three decades in banking and financial services, most recently serving as president and chief executive of BPI Capital Corp. after earlier leading HSBC Philippines’ wholesale banking business.
Katigbak, who served as an independent director from 2014 to 2026, will continue advising the retailer, allowing SSI to retain his experience despite the mandatory end of his board tenure.
“As we thank Carlo for his outstanding service and enduring contributions over the past 12 years, we are equally grateful that he has agreed to continue advising the Board,” Huang said.
“His wisdom, integrity, and deep understanding of our business have been instrumental in helping guide SSI through an important chapter in its growth," he added.
