AirAsia PH’s new chief prioritizes operational stability amid headwinds

Anna Victoria Lu
AirAsia Philippines president, general manager

AirAsia Philippines has named Anna Victoria Lu as president and general manager, as the airline balances expansion plans against rising industry pressures.

Lu brings over 15 years of experience in infrastructure and public-private partnerships, including a stint leading a major water utility business under Aboitiz Infrastructure.

“As I step into this role, the immediate priority is continuing operational stability that the team has worked hard to achieve, especially as global pressures such as the ongoing Middle East crisis and its impact on fuel costs continue to challenge the aviation industry,” Lu said in a statement on Tuesday.

Demand growth

AirAsia Philippines operates 26 routes, including 14 domestic and 12 international, with plans to gradually expand its network.

Passenger volume rose 14 percent in the first quarter, supporting new routes such as Ha Noi and Da Nang in Vietnam.

What’s next?

The airline is also looking to grow its Cebu hub, targeting demand outside Metro Manila.

“With this strong foundation in place, we can then focus on sustainable growth by strengthening our hubs and expanding into destinations where we see strong demand and opportunities to better connect communities,” Lu said.

“By navigating uncertainty with discipline and operational stability, we also aim to rebuild brand confidence, reassuring our guests that they can rely on us and trust the experience we provide,” she added.
