The strategy recently gained regional recognition after Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) and RL Commercial REIT Inc. (RCR) secured three wins for the Robinsons Malls portfolio at the Retail Asia Awards 2026 in Singapore.
The mall operator received Eco-Friendly Mall of the Year-Philippines for Robinsons Magnolia, New Mall of the Year-Philippines for Robinsons Pagadian, and Regional Mall of the Year-Philippines for Robinsons Malolos.
Organized by Charlton Media Group, the Retail Asia Awards honor outstanding achievements and transformative contributions across the Asia-Pacific retail sector. The awards were held on June 3 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre.
Regional growth
The latest recognition highlights Robinsons Malls’ focus on expanding its presence in emerging provincial markets, where it sees significant opportunities for long-term growth. The company currently operates 57 malls nationwide across major urban centers and developing regional economies.
Its retail platform now spans approximately 1.7 million square meters of leasable space, reflecting the scale of its operations across both established and fast-growing markets.
“These recognitions show how Robinsons Land Corp. is expanding as a proudly Filipino company, meeting the evolving needs of communities nationwide,” Robinsons Malls and Robinsons Destination Estates EVP and group business unit general manager Faraday D. Go said in a statement.
“Across our portfolio, we remain committed to building future-ready destinations that generate long-term value, empower communities, and contribute to the country's continued growth,” Go said.
The company said developments such as Robinsons Pagadian and Robinsons Malolos demonstrate its strategy of establishing integrated retail destinations that attract investments, generate jobs, and support local enterprises.
Provincial hubs
Since opening in April 2025, Robinsons Pagadian has delivered a strong inaugural performance, drawing around 160,000 visitors on its first day and achieving near-full tenant occupancy.
The results reflect sustained demand for community-based retail centers in growth areas outside the capital.
In Bulacan, Robinsons Malolos has emerged as a key retail and mobility hub. The mall hosts major regional events, including the opening of the Singkaban Festival, and supports employment initiatives through quarterly job fairs connecting as many as 800 job seekers per cycle with prospective employers.
The latest awards add to Robinsons Malls’ track record at the regional program, following wins in 2025 for Opus Mall as New Mall of the Year-Philippines and Robinsons Antipolo as Regional Mall of the Year-Philippines.
Sustainability push
Alongside geographic expansion, Robinsons Malls continues to invest in sustainability initiatives across its portfolio.
Robinsons Magnolia, which forms part of RCR’s portfolio, was recognized for its environmental programs and energy-efficient operations. Its expansion runs on 100 percent renewable energy through a dedicated power supply agreement and incorporates passive design features such as skylights and clerestory windows to reduce energy consumption while maximizing natural lighting.
The mall also operates a Green Residuals Waste Management program, including Renew-a-Bottle machines that collect more than 400 PET bottles monthly. Additional features include electric vehicle charging stations and bicycle facilities that encourage low-carbon transportation.
These initiatives form part of Robinsons Malls’ broader efforts to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource use across its developments.
“At Robinsons Malls, we believe our role extends far beyond retail,” Robinsons Malls deputy business unit general manager Ma. Kristina Real-Lim said.
“Our developments stand as the heart of the communities we serve, where people connect, celebrate life’s milestones, access essential services, and share meaningful everyday experiences. We strive to create destinations that are seamlessly woven into the fabric of Filipino life, delivering spaces that foster inclusion, belonging, and shared growth.”
The company said it remains focused on developing destinations that address the needs of local communities while creating long-term value across the Philippines. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
