The strategy gained external validation after BPI was named Best Managed Bank in the Philippines, while Jose Teodoro “TG” Limcaoco, president and CEO, was hailed Best Bank CEO in the Philippines by Singapore-based research and benchmarking organization The Asian Banker. BPI also took home Best Retail Bank and Best SME Bank in the Philippines.
Why it matters
The recognitions come as BPI turns the expanded franchise created by its Robinsons Bank integration into a platform for growth, while pushing more routine transactions to digital channels and repositioning branches toward advisory and higher-value customer relationships.
“These recognitions reflect the collective efforts of our people and the trust our customers continue to place in BPI. As we grow and transform, we remain focused on building a stronger and more resilient bank that creates lasting value for our customers and the communities we serve,” Limcaoco said.
Driving the numbers
BPI recorded sustained growth in lending, deposits and earnings while improving operating efficiency. The bank reduced its cost-to-income ratio to 47.2 percent, maintained return on equity at 14.5 percent, and preserved sound capital and asset quality despite the scale of the integration.
The Asian Banker cited BPI’s disciplined execution and continued investments in technology, people and institutional capabilities, a company release said. Its digital banking push, redesigned branches and broader distribution partnerships are allowing more transactions to migrate online.

Its SME business was recognized for prudent risk management, broad market reach and relationship-led engagement.
“We will continue to invest in our people, technology, and capabilities so we can serve Filipinos better, help businesses grow, and enable more people to achieve their aspirations,” Limcaoco added.
