The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) recognized SNAP-Benguet's Binga hydroelectric power plant for its outstanding operational performance and steadfast commitment to ensuring reliable and secure electricity supply during the regulator's 25th Founding Anniversary celebration on June 26.
Andrea Toyoda, SNAP assistant vice president for regulatory affairs, received the award on behalf of the company.
Why it matters
As renewable energy capacity grows, consistently reliable hydroelectric facilities play a crucial role in maintaining grid stability while supporting the country's transition to cleaner energy sources. Recognition from the industry regulator reinforces the value of operational discipline in achieving long-term energy resilience.
Held at Exquadra Tower in Pasig City, the anniversary event carried the theme, "The Next Watt: 25 Years of Regulating for a Modern Energy Future," and convened stakeholders from across the Philippine energy sector to discuss their roles in advancing a resilient, future-ready power industry.
