Why it matters
Investors and regulators are placing greater emphasis on ESG performance, making environmental stewardship an increasingly important differentiator for energy companies operating critical infrastructure.
SNAP-Benguet's environmental initiatives include operating a Material Recovery Facility that recovers recyclable materials while supporting the waste management requirements of nearby communities. The company has also implemented color-coded waste segregation systems across its facilities.
The firm further enhances reservoir protection through the installation of log booms and a semi-automated trash rack cleaning machine that collects floating debris in its dam reservoirs. These efforts are complemented by regular clean-up drives aimed at minimizing environmental impacts around its hydropower assets.
The bigger picture

It was previously recognized as a regional champion and national finalist in the Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan Awards and received international recognition in 2024 through the Asean Occupational Safety and Health Network Awards in Singapore.
