Steering RLC’s capital strategy

Tan has overseen RLC’s finance, risk management, compliance and capital market initiatives since 2016, helping steer several major transactions that supported the property developer’s expansion while maintaining financial flexibility, RLC said in a statement.

Among these was a P13.2-billion bond issuance in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A year later, RLC listed RL Commercial REIT Inc. (RCR), raising about P23.5 billion in an initial public offering that was the Philippines’ largest REIT IPO at the time.

RLC subsequently completed a P15-billion bond issuance in 2022, which attracted around P120 billion in bids, followed by another P15-billion bond offering in 2023.

In 2024, the company also carried out an overnight block placement of RCR shares worth approximately P8.5 billion.

The transactions have provided funding for RLC’s growth while reflecting investor confidence in the company.

“I see this recognition as a reflection of the work of the entire team,” Tan said.

“Finance is most effective when it gives the business a clear view of its choices, helps manage risk, and ensures that resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact,” he added.

Supporting vision 5-25-50

RLC’s finance team supports investment and funding decisions across the company’s residential, office, mall, hospitality, logistics and mixed-use businesses.

Beyond accounting and reporting, the group works with RLC’s business units on capital allocation, risk management and governance.

RLC president and CEO Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio said Tan’s work supports the property developer’s Vision 5-25-50 strategy, which targets P25 billion in net income by its 50th anniversary in 2030.

“His consistency and discipline have strengthened the way Robinsons Land manages its finances and approaches major investment decisions,” Aragon-GoBio said.

Deep finance experience

Tan has nearly three decades of experience spanning banking, treasury, operations, corporate finance, risk management and governance.

He also holds leadership and finance positions in several RLC-affiliated companies, including RCR, Altus Property Ventures, Robinsons Double Dragon Corp. and Universal Hotels and Resorts.| Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
