SM Warehouses, a unit of SM Prime Holdings Inc., has expanded the logistics space it provides to Shopee partners SPX Express (SPX) and Scommerce Philippines Inc. with the turnover of a new 40,000-square-meter facility in Pasig City.

The new facility brings SM Prime’s combined logistics space for the two companies in Pasig and Laguna to more than 126,000 square meters.

“Our strengthening relationship with SPX and Scommerce reflects our commitment to supporting businesses and local MSMEs with well-located, adaptable spaces that improve efficiency and enable long-term growth,” SM Prime Commercial Properties Group business unit head Alexis Ortiga said in a statement.

Scommerce provides warehousing and fulfillment services to sellers and businesses operating on the Shopee platform, while SPX provides logistics and delivery services across Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Brazil.

Pasig hub targets faster deliveries

The Pasig facility will serve as SPX’s Mega First Mile hub and urban distribution center, bringing inventory closer to customers across Metro Manila.

Designed to handle high-volume operations, the facility is expected to increase processing capacity and shorten last-mile delivery times.

“As e-commerce evolves, our logistics infrastructure must grow with it,” SPX Express head Martin Yu said.

“The new Mega First Mile hub in Pasig brings us closer to Metro Manila customers, allowing us to increase processing speed and reduce delivery times,” he added.

Yu said SM Warehouses provides the scale and operating standards SPX needs to reliably serve sellers and buyers.

Complementing Laguna operations

The Pasig hub complements SPX’s existing operations at SM Prime’s 130,000-square-meter Silangan Warehouse complex in Laguna.

SPX earlier signed a multi-year lease covering around 86,000 square meters of the Laguna complex.

While the Pasig facility is geared toward urban distribution, the larger Silangan site supports regional fulfillment and sorting operations and connects Southern Luzon with SPX’s nationwide distribution network.

The two facilities reflect the different roles of regional and urban logistics sites, with larger warehouses providing capacity for sorting and fulfillment and city hubs reducing the distance between goods and customers.
