The company recently broke ground on the expansion project, which will modernize and enlarge the facility to more than 78,000 square meters once completed.
In a statement, FedEx said the upgraded gateway would feature enhanced handling and operational capabilities aimed at improving shipment flow reliability and service flexibility for customers.
The expansion is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to support express, e-commerce, and freight shipments while improving overall network resilience across the region.
Regional logistics and trade
FedEx officials said the investment underscores the company’s long-term commitment to the Philippines and its growing importance in regional logistics and trade.
“The expansion of our Clark gateway reflects our continued commitment to the Philippines and to building a smarter, more resilient network across the region,” said Masamichi Ujiie, president of FedEx North Pacific and South Pacific.
“By enhancing our operational capabilities at Clark, we are better positioned to support Philippine businesses, enable efficient cross-border trade, and provide more reliable connectivity to global markets,” he added.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by government officials, including Finance Secretary Frederick Go and Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque, highlighting the role of logistics infrastructure in driving trade and economic growth.
Also present were Bases Conversion and Development Authority President and CEO Joshua Bingcang, Clark Development Corp.president and CEO Agnes Devanadera, Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) president and CEO Noel Manankil, and Robinsons Land Corp. president and CEO Mybelle Aragon-GoBio.
Boosting trade and investment
Go said the expansion would strengthen the country’s connectivity to global markets and improve the competitiveness of local businesses.
“The expansion of FedEx will deepen global connectivity and strengthen local trade capabilities. Filipino firms and consumers can reach more markets while more foreign traders can reach ours,” Go said.
“As the Asia-Pacific region grows, the Philippines will be better positioned to ride on this momentum and drive our economic growth,” he added.
The development builds on FedEx’s earlier investments in the country, including the opening of its Clark gateway in October 2021 and the signing of a land lease agreement with LIPAD in July 2024.
Sustainability features
Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with Robinsons Land Corporation tapped as developer of the project.
FedEx said sustainability features would be integrated into the expanded facility to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
These include insulated building materials, energy-efficient glazing systems, LED lighting, skylights, electric vehicle charging stations, rainwater collection systems, water-efficient fixtures, and equipment designed to optimize power use. The facility will also be designed to accommodate future solar power deployment.
