The push gained momentum with the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at 2GO’s headquarters, formally bringing the logistics firm into the DTI’s official “go-to” logistics network under the Supply Chain and Logistics Center (SCLC) program.
The partnership aims to address persistent challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including high transport costs, unreliable service providers, and supply chain gaps—while also supporting large and extra-large businesses that rely on bulk cargo movement.
“Moving products across a nation of over 7,600 islands is a massive undertaking,” a DTI statement quoted Roque as saying in an interview after the signing.
“A partnership between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and 2GO Group Inc. will ensure goods travel seamlessly from Point A to Point B.”
She added that in an archipelagic country, logistics providers play a critical role in linking production hubs and markets nationwide. “From Region I to Region XVIII, logistics is what bridges the gap,” she said.
Strengthening MSME access
Roque stressed that access remains at the core of DTI’s logistics strategy.
“Access is the key word here,” she said. “Through the SCLC, we’re giving MSMEs a clear lens to see the market.”
The trade chief noted that the partnership supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s push to grow MSMEs nationwide.
“This is DTI’s clear vision—we build the platform, open the doors, and empower businesses to choose their path,” she added.
The ceremonial signing was attended by 2GO president and CEO Frederic DyBuncio and COO and CFO William Howell.
Expanded services nationwide
Under the MOU, 2GO will participate in business-matching events, market linkage initiatives, and Logistics Support Desks housed in Negosyo Centers across the country. These desks will provide hands-on assistance to entrepreneurs seeking to optimize distribution and shipping strategies.
The DTI, meanwhile, will coordinate activities and provide access to the SCLC platform to ensure seamless public-private collaboration.
The agreement builds on a June 2025 Pledge of Commitment, formalizing 2GO’s role not only in day-to-day logistics support but also in crisis and calamity response, helping ensure the continuous flow of goods during emergencies.
