The agreement was signed on May 23 during IFEX Philippines 2026 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City by FAST CEO for Logistics Manuel L. Onrejas Jr. and DTI Misamis Oriental Provincial Director Jesusa M. Abear.
Why it matters
The partnership aims to help MSMEs in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental lower logistics costs, improve fulfillment speed, and participate more actively in national trade fairs and exhibitions.
Under the agreement, FAST will provide transportation, warehousing, temporary storage, on-site delivery, and reverse logistics support for MSMEs participating in trade events nationwide. The company will also offer special logistics rates for DTI-supported trade activities.
“At DTI Misamis Oriental, strengthening collaboration with the private sector is one of our key strategies to create more growth opportunities for businesses in Cagayan de Oro and across the province,” Abear said.
The big picture
A major component of the partnership is the rollout of a forward stocking solution that allows MSMEs to pre-position products in FAST warehouse facilities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The strategy is designed to reduce delivery lead times, improve inventory readiness, and strengthen supply chain resiliency during disruptions caused by typhoons and other calamities. FAST said the initiative will support institutional buyers, retailers, and distributors that require faster fulfillment.
Onrejas said FAST continues to expand its presence in Northern Mindanao because of the region’s strategic role in trade and distribution.
“Recognizing the province’s contribution to the regional economy, we continue to strengthen our presence and logistics capabilities in the area to serve businesses of all sizes, including MSMEs, in Cagayan de Oro and nearby provinces,” he said.
FAST currently operates four hubs in Misamis Oriental and is deploying its “mosquito fleet” of small trucks to strengthen last-leg delivery services across Mindanao. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
