Under the partnership, PalawanPay will serve as one of the foundation’s primary donation gateways, enabling users to send contributions instantly through QR Ph-enabled transactions.
The companies said the initiative aims to modernize how Filipinos participate in humanitarian efforts while ensuring that donations go directly to beneficiaries without deductions from service charges.
The program was formalized through a ceremonial signing attended by executives from both organizations.
Why it matters
The partnership comes as more organizations in the Philippines adopt digital payment systems to simplify donations and widen donor participation, particularly during disaster response and community relief operations.
Palawan Group of Companies co-founder and deputy chair Angelita M. Castro said the initiative centers on accountability and ensuring donations directly benefit communities in need.
“We at the Palawan Group recognize the importance of trust, accountability, and integrity. Funds disbursed for the programs of the GMA Kapuso Foundation are directed with purpose, ensuring that every contribution reaches the communities and individuals who need it most. Behind every peso is a story of resilience, recovery, and hope. Behind every peso is our vow to remain matatag (steadfast), maaasahan (dependable), at mapagkakatiwalaan (trustworthy),” Castro said in a press statement.
Between the lines
GMA Kapuso Foundation said integrating PalawanPay into its donation channels could help broaden its donor base and make giving more accessible to Filipinos who prefer digital transactions.
GMAKF executive vice president and chief operating officer Rikki Escudero-Catibog said the partnership supports the foundation’s ability to reach underserved communities across the country, particularly areas already served by Palawan Group branches and partner outlets.
Through the platform, donors can support programs focused on disaster response, healthcare missions, education, and livelihood initiatives. The zero-fee structure ensures the full amount donated goes directly to beneficiaries.
Palawan Group chief business development officer Lisa Lou Castro-Sabado said the company continues to prioritize partnerships aligned with its social mission.
“At the Palawan Group of Companies, partnerships have always been at the heart of what we do. They are not formed merely to expand our reach or grow our business, but to serve a deeper purpose of uplifting our nation. This is why we collaborate with organizations that share the same values. Our partnership with the GMA Kapuso Foundation reflects that belief,” Castro-Sabado said.
The big picture
PalawanPay is the e-wallet arm of the Palawan Group of Companies and is currently used by 22 million Filipinos, according to the company. The Palawan Group operates more than 70,000 branches, Pera Padala outlets, and PalawanPay Money Shops nationwide.
Both organizations said they hope the initiative will strengthen a culture of giving by combining digital convenience with community-driven support systems across the Philippines. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
