  • Palawan Group is positioning its broader financial ecosystem around serving Filipinos across different life stages rather than relying mainly on its traditional pawnshop and remittance businesses.
  • Its portfolio now spans digital payments, domestic and international remittances, microinsurance, credit and business solutions, supported by more than 70,000 branches, Pera Padala outlets and PalawanPay Money Shops nationwide.
  • The 41-year-old financial services group is renewing its partnership with brand ambassador Marian Rivera as it seeks to reinforce trust, family and financial responsibility.

Palawan Group of Companies (PGC) is broadening its financial services strategy as changing consumer needs push the 41-year-old institution beyond its roots in pawning and remittances toward an integrated mix of physical and digital services for individuals, families and businesses.

‘Palawan for All’

The company introduced "Palawan for All," a unified campaign and strategic vision covering Palawan Pawnshop, Palawan Express Pera Padala, PalawanPay, ProtekTODO, Palawan Credit and other services.

The group said the approach is intended to make its financial products relevant across generations and different stages of customers' financial lives.

"Whether you need to send money to your family, receive support from a loved oneabroad, pay your bills, save, get financial protection, access credit, manage yourbusiness, or simply have a convenient way to manage your money, there is a Palawan for you," Palawan Group of Companies chief executive officer Karlo M. Castro said during the media launch.

The ‘bricktech’ approach

At the heart of that strategy is the Palawan Group’s “bricktech” approach—combining its nationwide physical footprint with digital platforms such as PalawanPay, which has onboarded 23 million registered users.

Rather than treating branches and technology as competing channels, the Palawan Group is using both to give customers more ways to access and manage financial services, whether they prefer in-person transactions or the convenience of an e-wallet.

The ecosystem includes domestic and international remittances, digital payments through PalawanPay, microinsurance, credit and business services, building on a nationwide physical network of more than 70,000 branches, Pera Padala outlets and PalawanPay Money Shops.

The strategy reflects an effort to connect the nonbank financial institution’s extensive physical footprint with digital financial services as Filipino consumers increasingly use multiple channels to manage money.

"Whether it is through our branches or our digital platforms, our goal remains the same: to make financial services more convenient, inclusive, and relevant to the everyday Filipino," Palawan Group of Companies vice chair and chief financial officer Lilian Castro-Selda said.

Renewed partnership

The Palawan Group also renewed its partnership with brand ambassador Marian Rivera, tying the endorsement to the group's emphasis on family, trust and responsible money management.

"What makes the partnership even more meaningful is that Marian understands theimportance of being responsible with money. She has openly shared how she manages her household finances, keeps track of expenses, sets financial goals, and uses technology to make managing her family's finances more convenient,” Castro added.

Financial empowerment

The “Palawan for All” vision adapts to the evolving digital and financial needs of everyday Filipinos. It is also framing expansion less around individual products and more around its ability to address a wider range of financial needs.

“Ultimately, our greatest measure of success is not only what we earn, but the lives we are able to serve, the needs we are able to meet, and the trust we continue to earn from every Filipino," Castro-Selda said. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
